CrashAtlas

Privacy Policy

This page describes what the CrashAtlas website collects, why, and how you can control it. It covers this website only — not the desktop app or the bootable USB tool, which run entirely on your own machine and are covered separately in the repository.

What we collect

This is an informational website with no user accounts, no sign-in, and no contact form — we don't collect any personal information directly. If you get in touch, it's through GitHub's issue tracker, which is GitHub's platform, governed by GitHub's own privacy policy, not this one. See Contact.

Cookies & local storage

We use your browser's local storage — the modern equivalent of a cookie — for exactly two things, both essential preferences, never tracking or advertising:

NamePurposeDuration
themeRemembers your light/dark preference.Until you change it or clear site data.
crashatlas-cookie-consentRemembers your cookie-banner choice.Until you change it or clear site data.
ca_localeRemembers your chosen language (English/Spanish).Up to 1 year, or until you change it.

We don't currently run any third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site. If that ever changes, this table is where it will be disclosed.

How we use it

Since this site doesn't collect anything itself, there's nothing for us to use, sell, or share. Anything you post in a GitHub issue is public on the repository, the same as any other open-source project's issue tracker — don't include information there you wouldn't want public.

Third parties

Download and source links on this site point to GitHub, which has its own privacy policy that applies once you leave this site. We don't share the information you submit here with GitHub or any other third party.

Data retention

We don't hold any data of yours to retain. GitHub issues persist per GitHub's own retention practices, and you can edit or delete your own issue content there at any time.

Your rights

There's nothing on our side to request access to, correct, or delete, since we don't hold any of your data. You can clear your cookie/local-storage choice at any time from your browser's settings, or reopen the cookie banner from the link in the footer of this site. For anything you've posted on GitHub, GitHub's own account settings apply.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be called out here, not buried in a version bump.

Contact

Questions about this policy go through the same place as everything else: the contact page.
