CrashAtlas

A new view of your own crash dumps.

Direct observation of what actually happened, not a guess based on the error code alone. CrashAtlas parses the .dmp file Windows already wrote and turns it into an explanation, a likely culprit, and a next step.

A crash is more than a stop code.

CrashAtlas

  • Plain-language bugcheck explanation by default
  • A details mode for the raw technical picture
  • Likely faulting driver identified
  • An approximate call chain, honestly labeled as approximate
  • English and Spanish from the same schema

40 documented bugcheck codes, browsable and searchable.

Causes, fixes, symptoms, severity, official Microsoft references, related-driver lookups, favorites, and per-entry export — in English and Spanish.

Causes & fixes

Every code explains what typically causes it and what to try first.

What's actually inside a .dmp file.

A minidump is a directory of typed streams at documented byte offsets, not a black box. CrashAtlas reads the ones that matter for a bugcheck directly — unknown stream types are skipped, not treated as an error, since Windows adds new ones over time.

The call chain comes from a "poor man's stack walk": scanning stack memory for pointer-sized values that land inside a known module's address range. It's not true symbolicated unwinding — that needs unwind metadata and PDBs this parser doesn't have — so it's labeled approximate everywhere it appears, including here.

ExceptionStreamCritical — where the four bugcheck parameters actually live.
ModuleListStreamEvery loaded driver's address range — how the faulting module gets identified.
MemoryListStreamStack-memory bytes, scanned for the approximate call chain.
SystemInfoStreamOS build and CPU architecture.
UnloadedModuleListStreamA driver may have already unloaded by the time the dump was written.

A WinDbg-style Debug Console, without needing WinDbg.

A 30+ command text REPL over data the app already computes. Not a real kernel debugger — and it says so everywhere it appears. On top, on-demand real symbol resolution via the public Microsoft symbol server sharpens the approximate call chain further.
